THE RACE
The Resolution Run: One Last Run.
Bid farewell to 2025 with East Grand Rapids’ most iconic New Year’s Eve tradition — the Reeds Lake Resolution Run.
Event Overview
Put on by endurance event folks who live and breathe this stuff, the Resolution Run is built for runners, walkers, and anyone who refuses to stay inside when it gets cold. Every year, hundreds take on this USATF-certified 4-mile (6.4K) course around scenic Reeds Lake. Whether you’re chasing a PR or just shaking off the last chill of the year, this frigidly fun race will get your bones moving and your heart warmed up for midnight.

Our Legacy
Founded in 1982 by local legend Joe O’Brien, former East Grand Rapids High School coach and founder of Genesis Sports and Classic Race Management. What began as a simple run to close out the year has become a beloved community tradition that brings generations together every year.
Community Impact
A portion of proceeds supports Guiding Light Works, helping men and women in West Michigan find hope and long-term recovery.
Join the Tradition
End the year the way you lived it. Moving, laughing and a little chilly. The Resolution Run is where tradition meets grit and celebrates effort.
